Our Market Stalls

 

Most of our market stalls are in attendance every Sunday (during the summer season), but if you’re planning a special trip to visit a particular stall, please do contact them first to check. Many stallholders may be found online and can be followed and contacted via their websites or social media. In addition to our regular market stalls, we often have hand picked guest market stalls which aren’t listed below.

The Ferguson family have worked Gubbeen Farm in West Cork for many generations . A 250 acre coastal farm, one mile outside the fishing village of Schull, the Atlantic Ocean bordering one boundary and Mount Gabriel to the North as a back drop behind the land, sheltering the pasture that has always supported the Gubbeen herd. Renowned for their unique Gubbeen cheeses and a range of cured ham and chorizo, smoked in their own Gubbeen Smokehouse.

Anne is an accomplished watercolour artist who specialises in nature and local landmarks. Her original, framed watercolour paintings may depict butterflies, flowers and bees, still life, or any number of local public houses, always capturing the essence of West Cork. Prints and greeting cards of Anne’s original paintings are also available..

 

Hungry Crow | Clonakilty

Niamh O'Reilly has bewitched West Cork since 2015 with her healthy chocolate creations, all made using an 85% cacao couverture chocolate. Hungry Crow's promise is of a healthy option treat that tastes fantastic. Hungry Crow never uses any dairy, grains or refined sugars. Mostly vegan (she occasionally uses honey), all Hungry Crow creations are entirely gluten-free.

Ceramicist and artist, Nigel James creates beautiful and functional vases, jugs, dishes and bowls, finished in his own distinctive glazes and hand decorated. All pieces are hand-thrown, from stoneware and porcelain clays and are intended for everyday use, being safe for oven and dishwashers. Nigel’s original paintings are also available.

 

West Cork Animal Welfare Group

The West Cork Animal Welfare Group was founded in response to a desperate need to help unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in West Cork. The group is run by a few dedicated individuals, many of whom were involved in setting up the charity. Any funds raised and donated go directly to the upkeep of the animals in their care. Fundraising continues throughout the year with various events, including market stalls, to keep the rescue running.

Local grower Bradley produces a variety of chemical-free summer vegetables - specialising in tomatoes, French beans, herbs and mixed leaves from his three large polytunnels at Lisheen. Other produce, including his incredible asparagus and other vegetables are available in season.

Mella began making fudge for a local sweet shop in Bantry when she was in school. Fifteen years later, having worked in a variety of different spheres, she decided to set up her own business making fudge. Initially she started a stall in Bantry's Friday Market, and began selling to Val Manning's Emporium in Ballylickey. Gradually her kitchen enterprise grew in scale and now she works from her own unit kitchen in Lisavaird Co-op, outside Clonakilty, West Cork.

 

Knockeen Honey & Fruit  Farm

Noel and Patricia Love produce Honey from their own bees and make delicious jams from their own fruit. There’s a selection of traditional home baking including cakes, loaves and pies using their fresh farm grown, chemical-free soft fruit and also fresh vegetables in season.

Lucy Smith and Aimi Pinder run Crooked Boot Farm and Nursery, specialising in growing bee plants, herbs and edibles, cottage garden perennials and pollinator attractors in peat free, organic compost. They are developing sustainable practices in all aspects of their work and are constantly researching how out to avoid plastic usage where ever possible.

Little Red makes seaweed based skincare, hand-crafting skin treatments in the Boggeragh mountains in County Cork using pure mountain spring water. A native of West Cork, Donagh initially used his artistry as an illustrator and graphic designer. Later, he completed a DIT Visual Arts degree and was freed from commercial constraints. Working exclusively in oil paint, the focus of his smaller work is the sea and rural landscape, both ancient and contemporary, acknowledging it’s ever changing state through time, light and weather. The epic and ongoing series of abstracted, larger paintings, explores the hardship and endurance of monks who lived upon the hostile landscape of Skellig Michael Island.

All Beara Belts are handmade using top quality hides tanned in the traditional way using traditional oak bark tanning methods. Each belt is cut, carved, stamped, stained and finished individually and no two are the same. The belts are cut to the maximum length that each piece of leather allows. We then shorten them (from the buckle end so as not to spoil the design) to your size. We also hand make many other items in leather, including jewellery, bags and key rings.
